Final Strike Collaborative

Final Strike Collaborative is a nonprofit based in The Bronx, New York. A collective of artists, they work to eliminate waste in the entertainment industry by salvaging materials from theaters, film sets, businesses, and individuals and repurposing those materials into works of art, furniture, and home décor.
As the remote Director of Grants and Philanthropy, Madeleine Thompson researches and writes grant proposals to fund Final Strike Collaborative's mission. Madeleine recognizes the importance of both the environment and storytelling and views preserving the ability for later generations to enjoy both of these privileges as a wonderful, necessary cause.
Since her time at Final Strike Collaborative, Madeleine has coordinated several grants. She was awarded a grassroots grant from The Pollination Project to fund materials and marketing for sustainability workshops in September 2023. Her work made it to the final round of consideration for the largest-to-date award for the organization, though ultimately that grant was not awarded.
She also creates website and social media content for Final Strike Collaborative to present their mission and goals in eye-catching yet concise language. This includes drafting the script for a donor video, shown on the website and attached here. Madeleine has helped make products to sell on the website, too, by sewing tote bags from reclaimed fabrics.
During January 2024, Madeleine completed an educational internship with Final Strike Collaborative for academic credit. In the month-long sprint semester, she submitted four grant applications, illustrated cartoon-style content promoting the organization’s mission, and became proficient in Adobe Illustrator. Most notably, she increased their network of potential donors through connecting with seven professionals working as illustrators, writers, authors, poets, publishers, and copy editors from all over the world.
Madeleine’s time at Final Strike Collaborative has honed her project management skills and innate drive to create alongside others to have an authentic, palpable effect on our world.
